Mercury Spill Cleanup

About this Project

For this project, we provided a hazard assessment and cleanup services following a mercury spill in an Upper Peninsula hospital.

The spill happened in a patient treatment room. An older blood pressure monitor containing mercury was broken, and elemental mercury fell onto the carpeting and into the heating vent.

We worked with another abatement firm on this project, and the alliance approach allowed us to develop a comprehensive work plan. In conjunction with these efforts, we prepared detailed hazardous material assessments based upon the final work plan.

Further, we coordinated with government agencies and ensured detailed communication with all parties regarding the waste streams and disposal methods. Acting as the project manager, we were responsible for overseeing project scope, budget, and scheduling on behalf of the client.
