Electrical System GIS Mapping

About this Project

Using geographically oriented views of electric distribution devices, structures, and circuits, utility managers and administrators can visualize, analyze, and understand real-world engineering and business problems and explore solutions.

Recognizing the value of these mapping systems, a city in upper Michigan hired us to to collect GIS points for each utility pole within their four electrical circuits. We used this information to create interactive maps that staff could use in daily operations of the electrical system.

Maps display the locations of transformers, reject poles, generators, junction boxes, and other data. The information will also help the city to complete a system-wide audit.
