New leadership secures this team’s position among the top in the nation

MARQUETTE, Mich. (April 26, 2023) Marquette-based TriMedia Environmental & Engineering is growing its utility services division under the leadership of industry veteran Mylan Koski, PE, TriMedia’s Manager of Utility Services. For nearly three decades, the company has provided utility customers with high-quality, cost-effective environmental, health and safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, and survey services.

Koski’s goal for TriMedia’s utility services team is to expand its portfolio of projects that range from multi-million-dollar interstate energy pipelines to local electrical distribution projects. “While we’ve been providing these services all along, we’re excited to expand our reach and support a broader range of project owners and contractors involved in the design and construction of utility projects,” said Koski.

Koski was with TriMedia for a decade before leaving in 2018 to work at a major pipeline construction company. His return adds significant horsepower to the utility services team. The team is further strengthened by new President Bob Lehto, MPH, CIH, ROH, CSP, who also returned to TriMedia last year after eight years with Enbridge. Lehto’s status as majority owner and an active member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians brings TriMedia a designation as an Indian Small Business Economic Enterprise.

TriMedia’s utility team supports every step of its clients’ projects, from engineering design and support, land surveying, and GIS mapping, to utility locating/4-way sweep, drone work, safety training, and field inspection. There can be years of planning, preparation, and permitting that take place even before construction begins. TriMedia provides support throughout the entire lifecycle of a project.

TriMedia’s team and technologies combined are among the top in the nation.

The TriMedia utility services division is committed to continued investments in superior people, products, and equipment. The deep expertise of its engineers and scientists, combined with access to the most advanced technologies and equipment in the field, makes their team one of the best in the country. For example, clients often remark on the usefulness of TriMedia’s GIS deliverables, which include clean, concise, verifiable data with a scalable mapping system that’s adaptable to projects as small as an acre to large interstate projects.

TriMedia’s utility services capabilities are deep.

Past and future utility projects include natural gas pipelines, carbon sequestering systems, and high-voltage electrical lines that transmit green energy from windmills. A few of TriMedia’s recent projects include:

  • ground disturbance coordination, utility locating, CAD/GIS, and surveying for a $450 million, 100-mile ethane pipeline spanning three states
  • ground disturbance coordination, surveying, utility locating, and hydrostatic testing support for portions of a $4 billion, 350-mile natural gas interstate pipeline
  • utility locating, surveying, and GIS/CAD support for a multi-million dollar, two-mile underground electrical utility expansion project in a major metropolitan area.

National companies trust TriMedia.

“TriMedia brings significant value to every project,” said Mike Buric, Superintendent of Precision Pipeline, whose experience working with TriMedia includes projects for Enbridge, Shell, Kinder Morgan, MarkWest, and others. “Their people have the expertise and the experience to get the job done right. We work on big, complex projects, so we can’t afford to waste time. I choose to partner with TriMedia because I trust their work.” The TriMedia team has provided Buric with engineering and utility locating, GIS/CAD services, hydrostatic testing, surveying, ground disturbance coordinator services, and more.

Christopher Haux, Vice President of Operations – Complex Projects at Otis Minnesota Services reports, “Each time we’ve handed them a unique challenge, TriMedia has come up with a solution, often under a tight timeline. They use standard means in extraordinary ways.” TriMedia has worked with Haux on projects for such companies as TransCanada, Shell, DTE, Kinder Morgan, Enbridge, NiSource, We Energies, Hess, Wolverine/Exxon, and MPLx. Haux continued, “Whether it’s utility locating, GIS/CAD, surveying, pressure testing, or construction site environmental science, including soil and water contamination, they develop systematic methods, deliverables, and results that exceed expectations.”
